The History of Defunct Marine Mammal Parks

The Memories and the Truths

Queen's Hotel Dolphinarium, Margate, UK ?-late 1970s?

The dolphins and sealions were put in a pool that was originally the hotel pool of the "Queen's Hotel"- Owned by Butlins.

As you can read above:

There were 3 Dolphins named, Britt, Speedy and Baby Jan and 2 Sealions named Bonny and Clyde.

"SEven performances daily, including Sundays. Admission 4/- Adults 2/6 Children"

This probably means £4.00 and £2.60, if there's anyone who knows, please contact us.

Here is the pool before it became a dolphinarium: It was indoor and had underwater viewing windows.

Then it was turned into a Dolphinarium with 2 dolphins and some sealions:

During the Winter the animals (or the dolphins atleast) did tours around the UK. They went to:

Guinea Gap Baths – Wallasey – Merseyside
Heath Town Baths - Wolverhampton
William Roberts Baths – Norris Green - Liverpool

Photos from their tours, to follow.
